Welcome to the website of CODE 2009, the Contest On Design in Engineering.

The Contest On Design in Engineering (CODE) 2009 will involve participants from High Schools and Community Colleges located in West Texas. Teams of 4-5 students advised by a supervisor will work on broad engineering challenges with multiple possible solutions. Project proposals from students and their supervisors are encouraged. The first 20 registered teams for CODE 2009 will be allotted a budget of $500 each for the cost of project supplies. A one-day kickoff event will be held at the Texas Tech Campus on November 7th, 2009. The project topics will be finalized on that day. The teams will also be assigned TTU undergraduate student mentors who can guide them on any technical question. The kickoff event will also host a number of social and engineering activities including advising for transfer to Tech and other scholarship opportunities for high school and community college students. Reimbursements for hotel stay and travel for out-of Lubbock area teams will be provided. The presentation of the team projects will be held on June 5th, 2010 and a contest winner decided. Other than technological gadgets, prizes will include possible presentation of the results in the Gulf Coast Regional meeting of the American Society of Engineering Education and scholarships for attending distant education and summer courses at TTU.
